A Year in 3-D
Updated: Aug 17, 2020
This theme was thought up by Brandon, but, boy did I run with it! This was an intense and fun one to do. Ace was turning 3. I couldn't believe it, but I was going to make it fantastic!!
As we came up with the theme, I thought, what if we make food with 3D names and the colors were going to be the colors you find in 3D glasses, and then, and then, and then, oh my, I just kept going and it got bigger! The colors were the colors for everything. The drinks, the cupcakes, the strawberries, and of course, the decorations. We ended up getting a bounce house this year too. What a good idea for a three year old!! The house was set up the day before the party because the company so busy with their deliveries. Ace spent that entire day bouncing his heart out. He had so much fun!!! It was definitely worth the money.
“I lived on Pinterest. Pretty sure it is a girl's best friend when it comes to party planning.”
For this I started with the cover art, I was going to do an online invite, and then went from there. I started coming up with food I wanted to serve and the names for the food or descriptions I mean. Pinterest and 4th of July foods were becoming my addiction. I lived on Pinterest. Pretty sure it is a girl's best friend when it comes to party planning.
This birthday allowed for more fondant work, self inflicted obviously, but here we go. I bought a three inch number 3 mold for fondant and went to town creating cyan and red molds. Then I thought what if I make glasses to go on them too. So I pulled out my handy Exact-o knife and started going to town to try to create something that resembled a frame of 3D glasses. I looked at a picture and free handed them, but you could totally make a stencil as well. Then, I put the red and cyan colors in each side and glued them to the three's with a little dab of water. It took me a while but I was able to develop something I really liked and I thought conveyed the theme perfectly. I even used a bit of frosting to put a pair on the 3 candle for Ace. After everything was said and done, I felt pretty good about how it all came out. You can see more pictures and my planning on my instagram and pinterest.
